South Market: Workshop Safety Protocol

COVID-19 Safety:

As we adjust to the global impact of COVID-19, rest assured that we are committed to ensuring the health, safety and well-being of our valued workshop participants, our employees and all stakeholders, including the staff at the venues where we host our workshops.

The COVID-19 pandemic has required that we review our service and support to all persons involved, including strong emphasis on protecting their health and safety. To keep our operations and environment safe, we have implemented measures based on the guidelines outlined by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the World Health Organization (WHO), as we strive to protect all parties involved.

Preventive Measures:

  • The workshop room will be fully sanitized on the morning of the workshop to provide a sterile environment before it is utilized by attendees. This includes the floors, door knobs, furniture, tables, tablecloths and chairs.
  • Attendees will be required to sanitize their hands via the hand sanitization station prior to entering the workshop room. Attendees will also be required to sanitize their hands before re-entering the room after the refreshment break.
  • As per the Ministry’s classroom guidelines face masks are not compulsory for the duration of the workshop, however those who wish to wear their mask are welcomed to do so.
  • HEPA Filter Air Purifiers will be utilized in the workshop room to help circulate and purify the air.
  • Separate male and female bathrooms are available. Hand soap, sanitizer and hand dryers would be available in these restrooms.
  • A modified layout will be utilized so that social distancing, applicable to the classroom environment, will be practiced. This includes proper spacing between tables, chairs and workshop attendees.
  • During the refreshment break attendees are welcome to take a walk outside and partake in their refreshments outdoors as well.
  • There will be a reduced number of attendees at this event. This is to allow greater physical distancing between workshop participants.
  • All our workshop correspondence will be geared towards effectively reminding attendees to practice good hygiene, such as frequent hand washing, hand sanitizing & no handshaking.
  • Attendees feeling ill will be advised to stay at home. On event day any exhibitor displaying any flu-like symptoms (coughing, sneezing, etc.) will be asked to return home immediately.
  • Prior to the start of the workshop a briefing will be made on social distancing in the classroom including measures for the refreshment break, via our audio setup reminding participants to abide by the precautionary measures outlined.
  • During the refreshment break single use items (e.g. stirrers) will be utilized and each attendee will be given their own individually packaged snack plate.
  • The South Market team will closely monitor the classroom to ensure there are no breaches of our safety protocols.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

The South Market will continue to monitor guidelines provided by the health authorities and the government of Trinidad & Tobago. Our safety protocol will be continuously evaluated and updated based on any new guidelines or stipulations. This is to ensure the strict adherence to these guidelines as this is critical to the continued mitigation of the risks associated with COVID-19.
